Suzhou Electrical Apparatus Science Academy Co., Ltd. (referred to as EETI hereafter) was origanally founded in 1965; In 1982, EETI was ratified by Mechanical Department of Jiangsu Province as The Focal Institute of High and Low Electrical Apparatus in Jiangsu Province. In 2000, EETI underwent transformation from public institution into enterprise. After fifty years development, EETI has become the unique independent third party research and testing organization that could provide one-stop service about testing of high and low voltage electrical apparatus. As the largest laboratory with the strongest test capacity and best test condition in China, EETI is mainly engaged in testing, researching, training of manpower, getting standard information and developing checkout equipment about power generation assembly, electric transmission and transformation equipment, high voltage electrical apparatus, high voltage switchgear assemblies, low voltage electrical apparatus, low voltage switchgear assemblies, machine tool electric appliance, marine electrical apparatus, nuclear power electrical apparatus, automobile electrical and electronic, wind power generation equipments, solar power photovoltaic system, energy saving products, RoHS, EMC, anti-seismic etc..

Approved by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), Certification and Accreditation Administration of P.R, C.(CNCA), we are the CB laboratory authorized by IECEE and IECEx. Approved by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the P. R. C. (AQSIQ), EETI is China National Centre for Quality Supervision and Test of Electrical Apparatus Products. Authorized by the former China Machinery Industry Bureau,  EETI is also China National Smart Grid Medium & High-Voltage Assemblies Quality Supervision and Test Centre, Quality Supervision and China Machinery Industry Center for Quality Supervision and Test of High & Low-Voltage Electrical Apparatus and Machine Tool Electric Apparatus Products, Quality Supervision and Testing Center of Mechanical Industry Automotive Electronic and Electrical Products of the P.R.C., Machinery Industry No.26 Metrology & Testing Central Station. Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of P. R. C. has approved EETI to be China National Industry (Electrical Apparatus) Product Quality Control and Technical Evaluation Laboratory. EETI is also the contract laboratory of CQC, CCS, UL,TüV, INTERTEK, BV, SGS and CEM.Many national and provincial technical service platforms and research stations have been set in EETI, including National SMEs Public Service Platform—Suzhou SME Public Service Platform for Electrical Apparatus Products Inspection, Jiangsu Province Suzhou Public Technical Service Center for Inspections of Solar Energy and Wind Energy Generating Equipment, Jiangsu Engineering Center for Intelligent Electrical Equipments Testing, Jiangsu Testing Engineering Technical Research Center for Power Electrical Equipment, Jiangsu Certified Enterprise Technology Center, Postgraduate Co-cultured Base of Graduate School at Shenzhen Tsinghua University, Postgraduate Co-cultured Base of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Electrical Engineering Practice Base of Shanghai Jiaotong University, etc..

EETI covers an area of more than 200,100 square meters (300MU) with 250 million total assets.  Its total personnel is 1300, among which 900 belong to engineering personnel and various kinds expertise personnel, 7 are doctors-degree holders, 55 are master degree-holders, 5 are state laboratory assessors, and 12 are state registered assessors. In May 2011, EETI was listed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

EETI has established the computer data acquisition system, computer management system and computer on-site monitoring system. It has set up more than 45 professional laboratories to test electrical equipment performance, safety and reliability, etc.. In recent ten years, EETI has completed a series of R&D project that advanced in this field, which has significantly raised EETI test capacity and service range. Untill now, EETI has successively won 3 times of Second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, more than 20 times of provincial and ministerial-level Science and Technology Progress Award, and more than 60 national patents. The testing products range under testing capability scope, testing capacity of impulse current, short time and peak withstand current test capability, DC test capability and transformer impulse short circuit test capability ranks; environment and climate test capability, EMC test capability, seismic test capability, high voltage direct test capability, and high voltage synthetic test capability takes up the top place in China.500kV transformer short circuit test and DC arching test .

Meanwhile, the secretariat of National Metal Cutting Machine Tool Standard Technical Committee, SHPTF, China Electro-technical Society of Wind Power Generation Technology Professional Committee, and the Reliability Professional Committee of China Association for Standardization and other committee has been affiliated to EETI. EETI is also the director unit and member unit for National Technical Committee 374 on Products Test Methods of Standardization Administration of China, National Technical Committee 25 on Electric Safety of Standardization Administration of China, National Low-voltage Electrical Apparatus Standardization Committee, National Solar Photovoltaic Energy System Standardization Committee, National Electrician Instrument and Meter Standardization Committee, etc.. In recent 3 years, EETI has presided and involved in the development and modification of national and industry standards, and certification test specifications more than50ems.

For a long time, EETI has conducted frequent exchanges with international and domestic peer technical organizations and universities, including Current Zero Club, FEMA, Russia Electrical Institute, NARI Group Corporation State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, PHCN, CESI, KEMA, VDE, Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University, etc..
